It is that time of the week again and you have to get up out of bed and get dressed for the office ANYWAY. Why not do it well? It has been said that dressing up well for work is almost as important as waking up to go to work on time, at all. Yes, it is that serious. All too often, people are of the opinion that first impression is all that matters – and so, they only put in efforts in dressing up for their interviews; and once the deal is closed, they spend the littlest of time while getting ready for work early in the morning every day. To be honest, everyone in the office notices every little detail and it can either make or break your reputation – regardless of how much of a hardworking workaholic you are. So in case you are willing to make the effort and look smart and polished on Monday and right through Friday, read on.
- The Classic Look – Classy is the word. It is true that adding a dose of style between 9 and 5 every day can be a challenge but pulling off a classy look can make you look gorgeous effortlessly. A well-fitting sheath is one of the essentials. You know the colors; charcoal, black, gray, beige or navy. Also, suits of those shades with a maybe single pop of color—chic and classy both at the same time. As for the footwear, cuffed sandals, plain pumps or pointed toe heels are your best bet.
2. Casual Business Look – Just know that casual does not, in anyway, mean jeans and sundresses. It means khakis, corduroy pants, linen pants or dress pants, all in neutral colors and paired with shirts (conservative ones that are not too revealing, otherwise you might come off as being dressed in a “suggestive” manner). When it comes to tops, you may opt for blouses, plain shirts, cotton shirts, sweaters, turtlenecks, vests, or sleeveless shirts. To walk in style, go for leather shoes, flat trouser shoes, or high heels (not too conspicuous, though). Say no to open toed shoes, flip flops, sandals and sneakers. The handbag, of course, should be a good looking, simple one.
3. Glamorous Look – Who doesn’t like looking glamorous? And it is pretty simple to do just that! Following the classic look, in order to look glamorous for work, you may just make a few changes and/or additions. For one, complete your classic look by adding a pinch of glamorous with a pearl necklace and a classy handbag, preferably one matching your outfit. You can, nevertheless, mix and match and work magic by putting things together!
4. Simple and feminine look – You can NOT go wrong with this. This is, by far, the safest look. And you can pull it off without putting in a lot of thought into it. For instance, a lace blouse with straight pants is as good as it gets! Alternatively, throw on a wrap dress, it can amp up your feminine look and allow you to flaunt that beautiful body of yours.
Additionally, you must always be sure to wear a stylish watch to work! Also, the importance of a good fit and well-tailored dresses cannot be stressed enough, it can add an extra number to your style card.
So make sure to keep these things in mind when you wake up and start getting ready for your 9 to 5!
