Autumn is almost upon us, which means 2016 fall trends and fashion outfits are about to see the light of day. I’m confident that most of you followed the Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week, which came and passed, and were inspired by the glamorous runway trends. I know I was. To take that inspiration and put it to use, this piece is about the best wearable, yes wearable, fall trends to make you look thinner and slimmer.
This fall is all about the hybrid; taking the old and giving it a much needed boost. We will see a lot more ruffles and laces – particularly on dresses – mini-skirts and maxi-dresses, neckerchiefs, and even velvet.
Runway trends often seem out of our reach, but with a few tips and tricks, you can hit the streets with your new fashion outfits that not only thin your figure, but keep up with the times.
Show Off Your Gorgeous Legs with Mini-Skirts
The 90s mini-skirt are making a comeback. Banana shaped, apple shaped, petite and hourglass shaped women out there, don’t be afraid to embrace the mini of skirts by pairing it with a simple white T-shirt or a blouse to emphasise your legs and waist. If you don’t feel all too comfortable with exposing too much skin, you can pair it with a long cardigan or some ankle-high boots. The cardigan will elongate your figure, while the ankle boots will lessen focus on your legs.
Ruffles and Laces To Sophisticate
Ruffles and laces are also back in style, but with an elegant twist. Raffles and laces, this time around, will be made from lighter fabric, perfect for outlining the figure, covering up your insecurities and emphasising your assets. Ruffles will hold a more sophisticated role in our wardrobes this fall, and are recommended to be worn in small doses, pairing them with simple items to thin your shape.
Along with ruffles and laces, seams are also holding a disappearing act. For those who love the edgier look, metal links may become your new staple.
Spaghetti-like shredded hemlines on skirts and dresses will take the place of boho fringe, upgrading your wardrobe to a more elegant yet flirtatious look. Choose dresses that flatter your body shape and don’t shy away from a bit of fun.
The Old and the New: Jeans
Your torn boyfriend jeans are about to be patched up. Yes, designers have taken on a bit of patching and quilting with a lovable twist. Perhaps it’s the upcycling trend that has inspired, but our jeans are being cut and sewn together for a unique look. Did I mention these jeans look amazing with ankle boots (playing on the look) or with elegant heels for a drastic contrast? Choose higher-waisted jeans for the ultimate thinning effect and don’t forget to accent your waist by wearing and tucking in a simpler blouse.
Maxi Dresses are Always in Style
You should never underestimate the power of maxi dresses. This fall, it’s all about printed maxi dresses. Regardless of the trend, it’s my strong belief that every woman needs to have a maxi dress in her wardrobe. Maxi dresses can be elegant, casual, fun, essentially fit for any occasion. The best part, you can dress it up or down by varying your accessories and by choosing the right shoes for the occasion. Wear maxi dresses that skim the length of your body, create vertical illusions and thus, thin your figure.
Velvet the Texture of Fall
We will see a lot more of the famous colourful velvet pieces and dresses this fall. From skirts, trousers, dress and blouses, velvet items of every colour are here this autumn to light up your world. Fashion outfits that embrace velvet can conceal your more problematic areas, as it is a thicker fabric and can be more structured, while depending on the colour, it can accent your assets and thin your figure.
Neckerchiefs: the Fall’s Accessory
We haven’t forgotten about accessories, of course. Neckerchiefs this fall will colour your fashion outfits, keep you warm, and add some sass and elegance to your look.
